Rep. Angie Nixon Blasts Sen. Ashley Moody After News Segment Shows Moody Dodging Questions on $10M Hope Florida Scandal
TAMPA, FL – Following new reports showing Florida Senator Ashley Moody yet again dodging questions and refusing to account for her role in the diversion of $10 million meant for vulnerable sick Florida children into partisan political funds, U.S. Senate candidate Angie Nixon released the following statement:
“Ashley Moody is again showing all of Florida what we’ve known all along: She is absolutely terrified of answering for her record, as she should be. When confronted with the fact that $10 million meant for sick kids was instead funneled into a partisan political slush fund on her watch as Attorney General, she did what she usually does if she’s cornered: provide non-answers. Sometimes, she literally just runs away.
“As I travel to every county in this state, listening to Floridians from all political backgrounds, their top concerns are almost always related to two things: affordability and corruption. Yet, Moody can never seem to answer for why she supports policies that make things more expensive, or answer for her own record of corruption. If her record is so good, why is she trying so hard to hide it and dodge questions about it?
“If Ashley Moody does not have the courage to answer reporters about a legitimate issue that Floridians care about, it’s no surprise that she’s also dodging the debate stage with me. Floridians deserve a senator who isn’t scared of facing the people, and this November, we’re going to hold her accountable at the ballot box.”
This latest news highlights a growing pattern of Ashley Moody avoiding the media, Floridians, and any form of public scrutiny. During her time as Florida’s Attorney General, $10 million from a Medicaid settlement meant to help vulnerable children was directed into partisan political action committees – a scheme currently facing a review by the Orange-Osceola State Attorney, as well as an IRS whistleblower investigation.
While a DeSantis-appointed judge recently ordered the expungement of a grand jury report on procedural grounds, the underlying facts still remain unchanged, and Moody continues to refuse to answer direct questions on the topic or participate in public debates.
