President Barack Obama Announces Support for State Representative Angie Nixon for U.S. Senate

JACKSONVILLE, FL – Today, former President Barack Obama announced his support for State Representative Angie Nixon’s grassroots campaign for the United States Senate, releasing a video message directly to Florida voters urging them to cast their ballots for Rep. Nixon.

“Angie Nixon and I both got our start as organizers. It taught us something important: Real change starts when regular folks stand up for what’s right. And Angie has spent her career standing up for you,” said President Obama. “When working families were struggling to get by, Angie fought for a $15 minimum wage. When politicians in the state capitol tried to tell people what they could and couldn’t read, she opened a bookstore to let you decide. And when Republicans tried to redraw congressional maps to deny voters a voice, she was on the frontlines trying to stop it. Different issues, different moments, one leader—willing to stand up again and again for what’s right. That’s why I believe Angie will be an outstanding U.S. Senator.
